TODAY THE WORDS ARE REST AREAS

TODAY THE WORDS are REST AREAS.  If you have been reading the blog for a while, you have seen the topics of Stop Signs; Mile Markers; Yield Signs and now this morning my mind went to Rest Areas. As drivers, we spend a lot of time traveling on Interstates as well as highways. On long trips, we sometimes use the state maintained rest areas. Some of the rest areas, especially the newer ones or recently renovated areas are attractively landscaped. For the most part, they provide a fairly safe bathroom break; time to walk your dogs or to walk yourself; get a soda and/or snack and allow a short break from the repetitious miles we drive or ride. Usually there is an area for truckers to park and catch a short nap before resuming their long hauls. Most of the newer rest areas are fairly lit. Our GPS show us where the next rest area is located as Rest Area 42 miles so we can plan our stops at regular intervals. Why did this subject come to me? I think most of us are guilty of improper planning when we start our trips and we don’t check to see when the next rest area is located and we don’t include the sometimes eventful closing of the Rest Area and we have to drive on, sometimes a little uncomfortable. We start looking at the exit signs and try to decide if we can make it to the next one. We become even more uncomfortable and we sometimes have to take an exit even if it is not the safest, nicest accommodations. Now for the deeper thought……Doesn’t this seem like life itself? We start traveling down the road of life all excited about our journey but maybe a little ill prepared. We don’t stock water, snacks, and other niceties and we try out our luck, hoping that all will go well. Our trip is temporarily troubled with unexpected, unprepared stops along the way. We begin to be aware of our unpreparedness and we try to find the exits. We find unclean environments and some clean ones. We intend to do better on our stop. We drive again and over and over until it hits us that we need to choose better rest areas for our comfort and safety. We need to check our GPS (God’s Positive Salvation) for directions on our life journey. If we plan, if we check, if we are guided by the right directions, our trip becomes such a pleasant journey with stops to rest; we can bask in the beauty of the land; and enjoy some nourishment and treats. Journey through life with planning, focus and love of what we have been given to enjoy in the well lighted joy of life!
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
Jeremiah 6:16   King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
