THE WORDS are WHAT IS A MOTHER? Tomorrow is a very special day for Mothers everywhere. Mothers come in all sizes and shapes, all types of personalities, backgrounds, and hair colors but the one thing that Mothers have in common is the love for our children. When a woman becomes a Mother, no handbook comes with the baby but an internal guide is built into the mother and she instinctively reacts to the needs of her little bundle of joy. Love is a natural gift and a bond is formed forever. I look at motherhood as a career with a great retirement plan. When a baby is delivered, a Mother’s career starts. She does her “job” willingly and lovingly. While engaged into her Motherhood career, there is sacrifice with long hours, sleepless nights, concern, teaching the child to walk, speak, potty train, social training, and teaching the child to love, respect others, and to share. I could talk all day about the work that goes into being a Mother; I am going to talk about the rewards that come with the Mother career. I referred to this career having a great retirement plan. Even though the children grow up and start living their lives; there is a connection that even though the “job” seems to be done, the children want to return to that place where they feel safe and loved. I see so many of my friends and I am certainly in this group when the children come home, the social posts are filled with excitement and love. This is our proudest moment when our child (or children) need to be with us and share what is going on with their life. Mothers want to hear the accomplishments, worry through the difficult times, always sleep better when the children are home, and love to “brag” about the wonderful things accomplished. A Mother knows…..and I repeat a Mother somehow, without any words know if their children are doing okay. My Mother did; her Mother did; and so on and on. It is better than any radar in existence. My deeper thought……Mothers never feel their work is done…….so share your love with your Mother and fill her life with pride on what you are doing with your life. The happier the child is, the happier the Mother is! Happy Mother’s Day to all Mothers! Happy Mothers Day to our Mother in Heaven! I am sending you a big hug and kiss and I am glad that you don’t know how much I miss you every day as I know that would hurt!
