|As we travel down the roads of life, may we be thankful for our safe journey. Today marks the 200 post for Sipping Cups of Inspiration and I am humbled by this journey. Arline L. Miller, author of blog.|
TODAY THE WORDS are A LONG AND WINDING ROAD. Some days are more inspiring than others and today, with my 200th topic and blog post, I am having such mixed emotions. This song title came to mind this morning and somehow, it seems to fit the daily events and issues. Each one of us has probably had the experience of traveling down a long and winding road during at least one or more of your trips. My mind went back to my childhood days, before interstates and super highways. When we would travel from Chicago to Douglas, GA, we took US. 441 and went through the mountains on a long and very winding road. Sometimes, it would seem scary looking down the mountains or even to see the sharp curve coming up very fast. Our Dad was a very good driver and we arrived safely. It seemed at times this trip would never end and it was always pleasant to see the road straighten out and the curves became wider and the threat seemed less. I think we have to go down some long and winding roads to see how it is not always easy to get to where we want to go. We need the blind spots to appreciate the open visible views when they come into our eyesight. Now for the deeper thought……Life is a long and winding road for most of us….When we travel through life, we are to expect those curves, be patient and caring while in the curves. and be appreciative and thankful when the road smooths out and the tensions ease. We find ourselves becoming impatient and weary when the curves come one after the other and we forget to be thankful for coming out of each curve safely. If we remember, the curves are there in life and we are going to experience them. Not many of us lead a charmed life and these things are going to happen. How we react to the curves and hardships define our character, but more importantly, it defines our walk with God. It can be easy for all of us in times of good (or the smooth, straight roads of life when the great things occur) to thank God, praise Him, and walk with smiles. What God wants to see is us leaning into Him when the curves come, thanking Him for safely guiding us through the long and winding roads, and praise Him for the comfort He gives through the dark nights of trials. Let us ride with the best driver in the Universe, God and He will guide us through!
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
“Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The winding roads shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”
