TODAY THE WORD IS INHERITANCE

TODAY THE WORD is INHERITANCE. My sister and I were having a great telephone chat yesterday and we were doing, as most siblings do, reminiscing about fun times. I told her when we brought up “our inheritance” story I would tell this story on the blog. This morning, inheritance kept coming in, over and over, so here goes a story that should bring a chuckle or a light smile for you.
As our Mother got older, she began to cull out unnecessary items, clothing, knick knacks or what- not’s and she would have yard sales. Sometimes, my sister and/or I would help her out, but this one time, her sister and her neighbor all banded together and had a joint yard sale. Both of us, who hate yard sales, chose not to go. When we talked about how it went, Momma told us she sold a lot of things and got rid of her Christmas tree with its ornaments. We weren’t expecting her to sell those and both of us would have loved to have kept them, not for monetary reasons but sentimental reasons. I laughed, and all of you who have been exposed to my warped sense of humor, told Momma, “Now, Juanelle and I are going to have to attend all of the yard sales anyone has to reclaim our inheritance.” We joked and kidded Momma and it became a standing family joke and when it would come up, Momma would smile so pretty and it was fun. The next Christmas, Momma had a good comeback as she had gone shopping and bought two ornaments, just alike, and had them wrapped. “Here is your inheritance” and it was so much fun. Every Christmas until Momma got too sick, she had gone herself and bought our “inheritance” and I can speak for both of us, we looked for the little ornaments (none of which were costly, but they were priceless) and as Momma was particular in never showing more love to one than the other; they were the same. We, now have a little collection of her gifts of inheritance and I can tell you there is not enough money to purchase them. Two and a half years since Our precious Mother left us for her mansion in Heaven, we have our inheritance and by far, they mean so much to us and they still make us smile as we both did on the call yesterday. Momma gave us love, she gave us caring, she taught us how to love, and she had a great sense of humor! When in life, it is the little things that make us rich. Yesterday I wrote, “If I die without a penny; I will be as rich as any person on Earth.” One of my dear friends reminded me “we would actually be richer”.
Live life, love life, and live life to the fullest! Build great family moments and memories as one day you will need them to bring your loved ones back to you in spirit for a great laugh and smiles.
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
