|TAYLOR SWIFT (BEAUTIFUL VOICE/CLASS ACT)|
TODAY THE WORDS are WHAT’S IN A SONG? or better yet, what is in an outfit the singer wears. Lately, there has been a lot of publicity about a young singer scandalous behavior on an awards show (all of you already know who I am talking about, but I don’t want to give it more attention by mentioning her name). She is not the only one who has taken the path of “if I show enough skin or act like someone who has no integrity or moral values, they will not notice I am not a great singer.” Several others have preceded her in this same manner. What concerns me, is no matter how horrible and how scandalous this behavior is; it gets media attention to a heightened degree and these young girls get the wrong idea and think it works. How many times do you see such a beautiful voice as Allison Kraus get strong media attention? The reason I mention her, is someone who had listened to her made the statement after hearing her for the first time said, “Angels do sing”. My point is when you hear her, you are not distracted by outrageous clothing or a skin show, you see a pretty woman singing in the sweetest, audible, clear, melodic voice. She doesn’t move her body in gyrating moves; she simply, elegantly sings. I think I have discovered what is happening with a lot of young singers and may I share my thoughts and these are my thoughts only……It is lack of self confidence in the ones who shed most of their clothing and they themselves are not convinced of their singing. If they believed they were great singers, they would not have to take on a “stripper” role. Think of the wonderful singers in the past and there are some currently young ones (Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood) who dress in attractive attire and you never think , slutty. I know I am seeing several in my mind who do it right and what I feel is the difference is these singers feel good about themselves and are not suffering from low self esteem and do not hide behind a shell of costumes, make up, “a sex sells attitude” and rely on their tremendous gift of song. I blame agents and managers for a lot of this “sex sells” and it becomes a way of life. Now for the deeper thought……If parents would spend time building children’s self worth and not promoting a “celebrity image” it will allow the child to make better choices, say no, and hold others accountable for promoting talent in a respectful way. One thing for young stars to reflect: how many wild, reckless, immoral stars are remembered for long periods of time? How many stars who took the high road can go on and live great lives if the spotlight dims? Can they go on as regular people if they are trying to live down the past? God loves all; even those who have chosen the wrong path. He can kill any bad image; God can cure any addiction; God can erase any painful memories if only we ask Him to do so and God does it with powerful grace and love. My hat is off to the stars who choose to shine for Heaven’s light.
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
