TODAY THE WORDS ARE WHAT IS AN AMERICAN

TODAY THE WORDS are WHAT IS AN AMERICAN? I saw on the news where Miss New York was crowned Miss America last night and this morning, the media referred to her as Miss Indian American. Okay, this brought a thought to my mind. We, as a country, are always wanting racism to disappear and when I heard this, I thought no wonder we can’t make racism disappear…we engage in “prefixing” everyone. One step in avoiding racism in America, I think would be to stop “prefixing” Americans. Others refer to themselves as African Americans, Native Americans, etc. This in itself is asking for separation. Why can’t we refer to ourselves as Americans and unite as Americans. Everyone in America has foreign links except the “native” Americans and why refer to them as anything but “Americans”. If you want to dissolve differences, then dissolve the separation by prefixes. We don’t need titling or as I say prefixing and it seems as if people of all races should, if they want to be recognized as Americans should be satisfied with being called an American without the added prefixes attached. I think we can all recognize our differences but unite in our common cause, as citizens of a great country. Letting go of the differences can be healing for our country. Does it really make a difference? I was amused finding out as an adult, that our heritage was different from what I thought growing up. Finding out did not change who I am, and it didn’t have any effect on my upbringing, so if I could grow up thinking I was a mixture of Irish and Dutch, to find out I was Russian and Dutch and from my Mother’s side, it threw in about 4 more countries in the mix. So I am a Heinz 57, a mixture of many countries and what does that make me……..AN AMERICAN. I am proud to be a non-prefixed plain, nothing unusual, hard working, patriotic, family oriented American. Do you see where I am going? Whatever my foreign heritage is, I was born here and will die here. I pay taxes here, I own property here, and I owe, I owe, I owe. That is about as much American as I need to be. Deeper thought coming…..Why do you think people want to prefix themselves? When God looks at us, we are His Children, we are so important to Him, he sacrificed His Holy Son for the rest of us. I don’t think God did it for any particular prefixed people. God did this for All of His Children. Live life, love life, live life to the fullest as you are with the best prefix in this world…God’s children!
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
Proverbs 6:16-19
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
