TODAY THE WORDS are DON’T STOP BELIEVING! This song, “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, one of my favorite bands, keeps going through my head this morning and you know me. I never miss an opportunity to be inspired. I wondered with so many confusing messages coming from so many sources and I am not sure if all of them are stretching or changing the “real” truth and it is dependent on who you are listening to these days as to your perception of what you hear. To make my point and it is not political at all. I would like to go back to my childhood and share a story with you. When I was young, Peter Pan was a popular story and it was so intriguing to allow our minds to go to Neverland and have a desire to stay young forever. Fighting pirates in our imagination was a true adventure, but we never put it into reality you could actually get killed or eaten by a crocodile. We “believed” the fantasy not the realism. We got into the fantasy so willingly, we tried to jump off the big propane gas tank in the yard and “fly” and our decision of what happened when we fell down was, were we high enough….do you see where this is leading? Oh, we were stopped by Mother before we took our flight off the roof, but we truly “believed” we could fly. We had bought into the Peter Pan saga. It was a few years ago when I came to my conclusion on the Peter Pan true meaning. I thought I would share this idea with all of my fellow believers….Life is part fantasy as dealing with harsh reality can be disturbing and we create escape routes to keep it tolerable. Peter Pan is the part of us who allows us to be kids long after we have reached adulthood. We buy toys such as sport cars; we go on trips we wanted to go as kids pretending we are taking our children; we play golf, tennis, racing, hiking and swimming in all kinds of settings to fulfill our quests and other escapements. This is okay for all of us who still want to believe we will not truly get old in our hearts and spirits. It helps us from getting older before our time. I never flew off the roof but I have flown in many planes. I never was an actor but I have performed on many stages of life and I can’t sing a note but I have had many “concerts” in my car singing along with the talented singers by CDs. Life can truly be fun if you still believe. Now for the deepest thought….Peter Pan’s theory goes along with God’s plan of everlasting existence where we escape the wrath of death to live for eternity and never grow old…Not too different, right? Live life; Love life; and live life to the fullest by not stopping believing!
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
Romans 2:6-8
He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury
