LAST SECONDS……PHOTO COURTESY OF MONA CAWLEY |
TODAY THE WORDS are THE LAST SECONDS. While watching the Georgia/Auburn football game, I had a thought for the blog and wanted to share it with my blog readers. The game went from Georgia having a rough first half and the game looking hopeless unless Georgia got its act together. My husband and I were frustrated with the progress of the game, but after being fans for years, it is not unusual for them to come from behind and so they did. Coming from behind 20 points, they not only tied the game, they actually got one point ahead with less than 2 minutes to go. It got down to seconds and in one freak play, the ball got tipped and bounced up right into the hands of Auburn’s receiver. Georgia lost by one play, one wrong move, and that was it; the game was over. It is not the loss I am writing about; it is the last seconds which are so important in so many things in our lives. The last few seconds of a trip can be interrupted with an accident. The last seconds of a conversation can ruin a relationship or a friendship and alter lives forever. The last seconds before leaving home, forgetting to turn off an appliance, or lock the doors may turn our world upside down. The last seconds are so important in so many ways to our lives. We live in the moment and we are not always being conscientious of our surroundings. As we see from yesterday’s game, seconds count and what we do in those seconds may change the course and history. Now, for the deeper thought…….If seconds can count and alter our lives; what if we don’t know we are in the last seconds of our lives? What if the trip you are going on is the last one you will go and in the last seconds, you are in a tragic accident? What if the conversation you are having with someone you love and it is an argument is the last one you will ever have with them? What if your plans of doing something tomorrow are interrupted by a sudden stroke or heart attack and your life ends? In the last seconds, and I realize God can save a soul in a twinkle of an eye; are you going to be able to “score” with God or will it be too late? I always look at the positive side; this, however, is reality and in a second, after reading this, maybe your life will change in a good way. Live life; love life; and live life to the fullest by having God by your side “every second” and then you will not have to worry whether this is the last seconds.

King James Bible 1 Corinthians 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
