TODAY THE WORD is SISTERS. It is a wonderful day to have “Sisters” as the topic as my Sister is celebrating her ….. birthday! The first thing about sisters is we don’t tell the age of our siblings, but with my sister I find that somewhat amusing since she has never looked her age so I would be bragging if I were her. If she told her age, the first thing out of anyone’s mouth would be, You are kidding since they would never guess it. She has been in my life from the beginning and is one of my first memories. I remember her having black hair with brown eyes so dark they are almost black. She looked like a doll with small features and pretty. Now, for all of you who are regular readers of the blog know I am going to reminisce about funny episodes in our lives, so I hope she doesn’t get mad. She used to get mad at me and my brothers but it is now understandable since I grew up. Mom would always leave her in charge of the rest of us, me and my two brothers, Carlton and Joe. Juanelle was our care taker and that in itself was humorous because there is only 4 1/2 years difference between us and with her being the “oldest” she was not prepared for her leader role. She, however, gave it her best. About an hour before Mom would come home from work, Juanelle would apparently put on her commander’s hat and chase us around the house trying to get us to clean up. It was funny to all of us; it was not funny to her. That is a good reason why none of us was overweight as we ran it off. I have to move ahead to her dating days. First, I was a tomboy; I laughed about her standing in front of the mirror; she didn’t wear a lot of makeup but she spent an eternity on her long, beautiful hair. I would have been playing baseball, touch football or running and she would tell me to stay in our room until her date who ended up her husband came and they would have to sit down together and talk to Mom for a few minutes(that was Mom’s rule for all of our dates). Juanelle would be so serious about me not coming out since I didn’t clean up from the outside romping. I would wait until I knew they were seated on our small couch, knowing they wouldn’t sit close in front of Mom and then here I would come….and sit down in between them. Don’t you know I realize miracles happen since my wonderful loving sister still loves me! The deeper thought is Sisters Love beyond the teasing, joking, differences, and it is deeper than any river! God gives us this kind of love for us to be able to hold hands and be there through the thick and thin. Thanks God for my Sister and may You protect her so I can tease her some more.
