TODAY THE WORD is STRETCHING. This morning my mind goes to “stretching”. I have seen my daughter doing magnificent stretches while she is going through her yoga sessions and it amazes me how far she can extend her limbs. She will stretch after we have sat for one of our great Mother Daughter talks. She has maintained a fitness by discipline in diet, exercise, and keeping limber by stretching and extension. While this is great, that is not the “stretching” I am referring to in this message. I am talking about stretching our minds, our bodies and our souls in all things that we do. To be able to stretch our imaginations, we become more creative and can put our dreams into reality….think about the great inventors of the world; they saw their creations before they created them. Age is not a factor in stretching our minds and talents if we can stretch our imagination. Our Mother started drawing and painting in her late 60’s. She had the talent inside and decided to stretch her hidden talent to the exterior the same as my daughter does her extensions. We live in a tense world and it releases the built up stress to participate in something fun and exciting. To be able to stretch our bodies to limits beyond sitting on the couch, even if it is a walk, a jog, some stretching will enable our systems to work better and give us longer lives. Now for the deeper thought….We have been given the ability to think, feel, move, and create. Artists draw and paint or sculpt; writers write books, articles, blogs, or poetry; singers sing and/or write the songs; comedians keep us laughing; doctors and nurses care for our health needs; accountants keep our financial records; and on and on. These are our internal talents being stretched to keep us limber in life. To stretch our souls, to encompass A Higher Power who created our beings and if we are able to stretch our faith and beliefs to realize all of the wonderous gifts we are given, we are able to soar the universe with incredible feats. Today, we can use some stretching! Stretch, stretch and reach for the stars!

Romans 12:1-2 ESV

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
