TODAY THE WORDS are CAN A SLEEPLESS NIGHT BE A BLESSING? Yesterday, while at the office, the wood door and I had a fight and it definitely won. I was hit on my face with a hard blow which was close to my eye. The reason I share this is not for sympathy, but due to my head hurting, I had a sleepless night. Oh, I would drop off to sleep, only to wake up hurting. I was praying when I was awake and this became the topic of this message. The house was quiet, the dogs were sleeping and my husband was in a deep sleep however it was not too quiet. It was during one of the prayers, all of the past few days seem to come into focus and clarity. I wasn’t sure if it is we are not as busy and all is usually quiet, or maybe God is not as busy in the middle of the night, it seemed to be a clearer communication. I seemed to find the clarity of several concerns I have had especially this last week. I smiled when I realized it was me, not God too busy as in this world, the nights are differently timed so God has to be a 24 hour God, which I know He is, to listen to all of our prayers. Not only did I receive the answers to my prayers and also the sought after peace and comfort, I grew closer during this time of peacefulness, and even through a pain filled head, I could see the grace and comfort of God. I woke up after a couple of hours of sleep, I could see no bruising from where the door hit my face and no apparent swelling. I gave thanks not only for the accident not being any worse, I prayed a prayer of gratitude for the sleepless night giving me a special night of prayer and talking one on one to Our God. I believe, maybe the door confrontation, was not so much an accident but an opportunity to regain my focus and mission during the still of the night, Now for the deeper thought….In life, look for signs God wants to talk to you and slow down to give Him the time to speak to you undisturbed. We all live a packed full life with the daily demands and we can be guilty of saying short blessings, skip prayers, or never take the time to listen with our hearts as well as our minds. Maybe, as I found out last night; if you find yourself in a sleepless state; God may be trying to get your attention and instead of turning on the television, grabbing a book or game; try to talk to God. He may need to give you a blessing and needs for you to Be Still and Know He is God. Live life, love life; and live life to the fullest by allowing the time for the answers you need to come to you. I wish for you a lot of good night’s sleep; but a sleepless night full of prayer might be exactly what you really need as I found out.
