TODAY THE WORDS are DID YOU LEAVE THE LIGHT ON? Have you spent the night at someone’s home and have to get up and go to the bathroom? Were you able to find your way in the dark without stumbling into furniture or walls if you tried to be quiet and not turn on a light? I have and most of you have experienced the famous walk in the dark, holding on to walls or touching furniture and the usual “bam” when you find yourself ramming into something and hoping it or you doesn’t break. For some of you who know my husband, will know that problem will not occur in our home as it looks like an air strip with strategic lights placed at multiple locations. This is a great idea and has helped our guests. When we were teenagers in the dating scene, our parents left an outside light for us to see when we got home, but I always thought there was a two point reason. We could see; so could our parents! Lights are essential as our vision, even at its best; it is somewhat diminished in darkness and we benefit from lights. Yes, lights are a great invention and even from outer space, we see the amount of illumination our lights produce. What about our internal light? You may ask, what is our “internal” light? So many times in my life and now in my daughter’s light, others have compared to a ray of sunshine. I have taken this statement as a high form of compliment and I am sure my daughter feels the same as we know how bright the sun shines. What about the expression of an expectant mother’s glow? Several songs have been sung with light as the theme, and a few of them come to mind, “Let my little light shine”; “You light up my life”; “I saw the light”; “He’s My Light” etc. Several more are probably going through your mind. Now for my deeper thought….God can place a special light in our hearts and it has the power of shining even in the darkest corner; the time of grief; the time of trouble; the time of addiction; the time of sinning; and if we turn on God’s light; we are safe from harm. Every light has a switch; even God’s and we have to remember to “Always leave the light on for God to shine in our lives.”
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
Matthew 5:16 ESV
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
