TODAY THE WORD IS MOTHER

DEDICATED TO MY PRECIOUS MOM, BEA HOLT LOTT HUTCHINSON

TODAY THE WORD is MOTHER. This Sunday, Mother’s Day will be at the forefront of almost everyone’s minds. Churches will have programs dedicated to this special day and some will give flowers or corsages to all Mothers when the sweet Mothers walk in. Lunches will be commemorated with children giving speeches on how much their Mothers mean to them. Gifts and flowers will be given and Mothers will smile a lot on this day. I wanted to stop before all of the well deserved hoopla and share a few thoughts with all of you who have your Mother to share this special day. The first thing I would suggest to all of you is to stop when you wake up and rise to go back down on your knees and thank God you will share this special day with your Mother. I say this because my precious Mother is not here to share this day, which I tried to share every year with her while she lived and it would be an honor and a pleasure to know that I could share One More Mother’s Day with her and I want to tell you how it would go. First, I would get up even earlier and pray a prayer of thanks for allowing me to be in her loving presence. I would dress in the colors I know she would say, “Look at you baby, how pretty you look.” I would make her favorite cookies, Oatmeal raisin cookies and I would add extra so she could say, “Oh, I will give your Sister some too.” She loved giving, but was thrifty with giving her special cookies away. I would have searched far and wide to find her the most wonderful gift; something I know she had been wanting all her life but too frugal to spend her money on herself but would share anything she had with the less fortunate. I would listen with all of my heart to every word she would say, even if I had heard the same story fifty times; let me hear it 100 times if possible. I would kiss her and hug her so tight as if it were the last time I would get to do that on this earth. I would tell her I loved her over and over until she would say, “Now, baby I know you love me. How could I not know as you spoil me rotten.” Then, I would stay later than I ever had so I could put off saying it for the last time. So many of you are feeling what I am feeling as your Mom has gone too; so many of you have this opportunity to do exactly what I would love to do this Sunday and everyday. Please don’t miss out on showing Your Living Mother how much you really love her. Happy Mother’s Day to all Mothers. To Our Mothers in Heaven; we do miss you; we do love you; and we know you have your reward for loving God and Us.

DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:

Proverbs 31:25-30 ESV

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
