TODAY THE WORD is CREDITS. I remember when my daughter was young and was in some commercials. We anxiously watched the commercial for each move she made and the video which was the commercial plus the “credits” at the end (which aren’t visible on the actual commercial). When we saw Missy’s name on the screen, we let out a big yell and it was a sign of recognition and somewhat of an applause of sorts. Credits is the theme of the blog this morning and hopefully it will be a thought provoker. I looked up the meaning for movie credits and according to Wikipedia, the definition is:
Two types of credits are traditionally used in filmstelevision programs, and video games; all of which provide attribution to the staff involved in their productions. While opening credits will usually display only the major positions in a production’s cast and crew (such as creators, producers, and lead actors), closing credits will typically acknowledge all staff members that were involved in the production.
I gave this some thought and realized how much the phrase, “All the world is a stage” and we find ourselves performing each day. In our younger days, we spend a lot more time in comedy as everything seems to be based on fun and hopefully some studying thrown in, maybe some talent exposed with some cheering and “credits” given for dance recitals, drama, sports which seem to take more of the center stage, especially with boys but girls are taking more stage presence. We become adults and take on the responsible roles with family, careers, faith based roles, and community member roles. Here is the deeper thought which call for credits…….When we are starring in life, we are given opportunities to help others whether it be for comfort, encouragement, work related, teaching, charitable acts, and we may or may not receive “credits” at the end of our role; but “life credits” are being produced and stored with Our Maker. We may not get any recognition for what we do, and our purpose for doing such acts should be without desire of recognition but a good feeling of a good deed accomplished. If you don’t see your name on the big screen, know it is being written in the Book of Life. To finish with a closing thought, when someone does something to help you; it is up to you to put their name up in lights by thanking them; a simple thanks costs nothing but is priceless!

1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
