TODAY THE WORDS are NOT SO MUCH

TODAY THE WORDS are NOT SO MUCH. This phrase is somewhat different from “not too much” and this difference is the topic for today. We, in order to understand the difference between the two phrases, must look at the meaning of each one. Not too much portrays an avoidance of overindulgence in any one thing as not too much food; not too much fun; not too much trouble, etc. Not so much portrays an less importance attached to any one thing and relates to an emotional response as I don’t care “so much” and is usually used as a response to a question such as “Do you like to dance” with the response of not so much.
Now, after distinguishing the differences between the two phrases, I thought I would go a little deeper and bring a few thoughts to the surface for us to ponder. If we attach the phrase, not so much, to a few occurrences in our lives, we may experience happier lives such as:

Do I really care I am aging? Not so much.
Do I have to be rich? Not so much.
Do I need approval from everyone? Not so much.
Do I spend too much time worrying how I look? Not so much.
Do I have to be the center of attention? Not so much.
Do I overindulge in unhealthy activities? Not so much.

……..Now, let’s look at the other phrase:

Do I spend my time giving to others? Not too much
Do I show love to my family? Not too much
Do I prepare myself for rough times? Not too much
Do I thank God for all blessings I receive? Not too much
Do I repent of my sins and make an effort to do better? Not too much
Do I recognize by this test, I can never give too much; love too much, be thankful too much; or be humble too much and pray too much? And the answer is Never can I do these things too much.

It is a good thing to feel we can never do too much and we need to feel we do not have to be in the spotlight  not so much. If we put others first with a good feeling of we cannot do too much; our problems become not so much. Just give this a little thought and your problems will not so much matter.

DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:

Luke 6:38 ESV

Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
