GUEST AUTHOR WEEK WITH LUCY HOLT SCHELL

SIPPING CUPS OF INSPIRATION IS HOSTING GUEST AUTHOR WEEK

Article from Guest Author, Lucy Schell, who writes from her heart and has made us aware of how important life and family are to us.
Allie Kemp
She grasps our hands, insistent that each hand around the table be held in that of another. As we bow our heads she begins in prayers of thanksgiving to God for His creation of each person she loves. She thanks God for the big things in her life, yet also stops to thank Him for what most would consider the little things….like allowing her to learn about words, for the beautiful flowers, for trees, for the animals and especially the butterflies. She thanks God for music, for school, for friends, and for family. There are moments of smiles from those attached to one another as she elaborates in detail, but by AMEN we find ourselves humble and close to tears.
Night prayers are often the same. Last night her mommy shared a story with her about Rebecca. Rebecca is one of the rabbit dolls my mama made for my girls when they were little girls. She now lives with Allie, my granddaughter.  Her mommy shared with Allie how her Grandma could make wonderful things. As she knelt for prayers she asked God to please tell Grandma how happy she was that she had made Rebecca as she loved her so much!
We are surrounded every day by God’s handiwork, but, I for one, fall short on thanking HIM for the little things. Allie, five years old, seems to understand that nothing is too small to warrant a prayer of thanksgiving. Oh, Lord, let me follow her example.
