TODAY THE WORDS ARE SPLIT SECONDS CHANGE LIFETIMES

TODAY THE WORDS are SPLIT SECONDS CHANGE LIFETIMES. In my lifetime, I have not given a lot of thought to the importance of a single second. It seemed easier to think about days, weeks, months, or even years. However, I have seen how a split second decision can change an entire lifetime of someone. We seem to think of heroes as being born heroes; we think of murderers in the same way; we think missionaries, doctors, motivators, etc as having this wonderful trait in their genes. Let’s think about this. What about the person who is strolling along in life without an obvious purpose and just getting by? Along comes a situation which can use a hero and out of their normalcy comes spectacular heroics. It was that split second this person stepped out and claimed it. All of us have several split seconds in our life and we answer that split second calling in different ways. Some respond; some ignore; some complain; and some rejoice. As I live longer, I am more and more conscious of this valuable split second and not trying to concentrate on the days, weeks, months or even years.
Let’s think of an example for simplicity sake: We are in a store and our money is tight; we are budgeting and putting things back to make sure we have enough money to pay for what we are purchasing. We are close to the checkout counter and the person in front of us drops a twenty dollar bill on the floor. The odds of that person turning around and seeing it is slim; as a side note I have been that person dropping it. There is a split second for a lasting decision in which our true character comes to the surface. Yes, we need the money and it is tempting to reach down and pick it up for our own use and it’s not like we don’t need it, right? Or do we think, what if this is the last twenty dollars that person has and they need it more than we do. This is one of those split seconds; we can be the hero or the zero.  What is the best decision for both people? If we pick it up and give it back; both of us have another split second to either thank the person and make them feel good about giving it back. Or we can keep it and either feel it was our good fortune and lucky day which is so wrong on so many levels as this should create some kind of guilt feelings which can cause mores stress than budgeting and/or doing without something we may not have needed to begin.

Here is my deepest thought on this subject…..Dig in deep with me. In a single minute, we are blessed with SIXTY individual golden seconds to make wise decisions and we can benefit from giving this some thought rather than thinking about next week, next month, and what we are going to do next year. We may not be granted another day to do what we can do to help others; insure our hearts are on track with Our Maker’s plan for our eternal life; and to give each second the proper recognition as a blessing bestowed to do good and to love as if it is the last opportunity to make something right or another golden opportunity to do something great. Tick Tock; Tick Tock; if I love with all of my soul; tick tock, tick tock; I will feel whole! Make each second count!
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
 Ephesians 5:15-17 NIV
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity [make it count], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.”
