TODAY THE WORDS ARE LETTING GO

TODAY THE WORDS are LETTING GO. I see on a daily basis, people who have a problem letting go. Sometimes, it may truly be an issue or circumstances to make a difficult decision to let go. As we begin life, we are free from attachments but at an early age, we begin to build attachments to family and friends. As children we begin to form more and more attachments therefore we start packing our lives with baggage of hurts and wounds. The little fights and arguments, the tense moments and our first heartbreak pile up the amount of baggage we acquire.
We go through life with a lot of baggage attached to our lives. We had a great friend in school, but due to a silly argument, we choose to hold on to the bitterness and we lose a great friend. We sometimes marry too young and definitely not mature enough to handle the complex marriage feelings; we divorce and lose that emotional bond and we lose our marriage partner. I know what some of you are thinking at this time…..this definitely sounds like letting go……is it? What you take with you, and it is hard to let go, is the pain associated with the loss. There it is; your baggage for life. You lose your job and may have lost your temper, but you keep the bad memory and it festers and grows, unless you let it go. Along with losses, changes, and emotional upsets, comes the baggage. One of my favorite songs is from the movie Frozen and we see so many little children singing along with this “freedom of life” song.
Now, we are getting to the deeper thought…..letting go of the guilt, the pain, the disappointments of our life when we make the biggest change and find our eternal home destination. God doesn’t expect us to find salvation over and over; He expects us to let go of those old ways, grab hold of the new life, and move forward in joy, love, comfort and peace. Difficult situations are going to reoccur in the new life but how we handle the difficulties by letting go of them and handing them over to Him. Without the old baggage, we are freer to do good things in His Name. Think of a bird and how it can soar so high in the sky, free to glide, climb and fly over the tops of trees. Take that same bird and attach “baggage” to its wings, and you know what will happen. The bird is sometimes not able to get off the ground and even if it did, no soaring or gliding happens. Take that weight off the bird’s wings and watch it fly! Let God remove the baggage and you will soar! Let it go! Let it go!
DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:

Ephesians 4:31-32 ESV

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
