TODAY THE WORDS are WHERE DOES THE TIME GO?
TODAY THE WORDS are WHERE DOES THE TIME GO? I find it somewhat amusing when I looked back and saw I wrote this original post in 2012. In so many ways, it seems like a long time and then again, it seems like yesterday and this is why I felt this post appropriate for a re-post.
Here is the original post for Where Does the Time Go?
As we grow older, and remember I didn’t say “old”, we find ourselves saying, “Where did the time go?” when we see pictures of young people. We remember those same people as babies and cannot figure out how they grew up so fast. We reminisce about the times we babysat, changed diapers (well maybe not), and went to recitals, ball games, graduation, and weddings. The memories are both happy memories and sometimes sad. When we recognize those moments, we have to recognize that years are passing and with that occurrence, we age, they age, and life goes on. We have another reason to use the phrase, “Where does time go”. It seems as if we work and don’t really think of how long we have worked at the same place and then 10 years, 15 years, and if we are lucky, we retire and normally reflect how time flew. We have children and most of them start having children of their own and if we are blessed to live long lives; we may even see great grands. Time does have a way of flying by.
When we see pictures of friends and other acquaintances after a long absence, it is hard to think wow, they have aged but in reality, they are thinking the same about us. We age; all of us age; and that means we have “experience” lines not wrinkles. Attitude about growing older can be the essential wrinkle cream. If we look at life as a positive experience; we usually have a positive outlook on life.
Now for the deeper thought…….We have only so many days and so many opportunities to do great things. Life doesn’t always cooperate with our intentions. Oh, yes we intend on helping others; we intend on saying I love you more; we intend on sharing our testimony with others; we intend on volunteering our time for good causes; and we intend on spending more time in quiet retreat with God and so forth. Then, our time is up with all of the unfulfilled intentions left unfulfilled. Time does go fast and so must we! Today may be the last opportunity to do what we have in our hearts and wouldn’t it be great when others reflect on our lives, “How did he or she find the time to do all they did for others?” May we take some time today and do something wonderful!

TODAY THE WORDS are TOY SOLDIERS
TODAY THE WORDS are TOY SOLDIERS. In honor of Memorial Day, I am reposting a Memorial Day tribute posted in 2013. How many times have you picked up a toy soldier and really gave any thought as to what it actually represents? Probably, like me, not many times have any of us visualized the representation right in our hands. A toy soldier is not very big, no more than 3 inches or less and they come in bright colors or a muted green and come with a lot of them in a bag. Boys and some girls have played with them and knocked them down “killing” them. The kids would then pick them up at the end of the battle and either start a new war or put them in the bag for a future battle. A game of pretend enemies with usually the best of friends taking sides and a lot of “bang, you are dead” was heard. Children are innocent and learn from others and many people don’t see any harm in playing war or even violent video games but now for the deeper thought…..War is real and deadly……Soldiers can’t be stood up again in the real war games and lives are taken or forever changed by injuries.
As Memorial Day is here, my mind went to the toy soldier and it felt sad as if I had a soldier in my hands and wondered if he was alive or dead. Do we as humans try as hard as we should to avoid war? Are we so wrapped up in proving a point that we do the same as precious, innocent children do when they play toy soldiers and kill without thought and reality that some one’s son; some one’s husband; some one’s daughter; some one’s wife; and some one’s brother or sister can or will be killed.
Soldiers face death on a daily basis if sent to a military zone. I can remember my brother Joe, who served two terms in Vietnam, and who retired after 21 years in the Army, when he said to me in reference to how the soldiers got booed at the airport by Americans, “Sis, a soldier doesn’t ask why, they are told where!” In other words a soldier obeys commands from a superior officer and is not in a defining position; he is in an obedient position. That tells me in order to protect us a soldier responds to an order. We should respect this demeanor and honor their willingness to serve. If there are opposing positions to a certain engagement, it should be brought to higher officials. Tomorrow, and every day, thank a soldier for our freedom which we value. Thank God for the highest protection of our life as God gives us every breath we take.

TODAY THE WORDS are WHAT’S IN A NAME?
TODAY THE WORDS are WHAT’S IN A NAME? On the blog today, I am going to get real. I can see my regular readers and those of you who know me well are smiling as I am known to be “real” and direct, but today is really direct. To show this point, let’s go back to my childhood. My last name was Lott and I have absolutely no reason to shy from this name. I was more concerned that I didn’t have a middle name like some of my friends had and there is no cute nickname to go from Arline so it was a good thing that I was close to my Dad who I was named after (His name being Arlie). Apparently, the “Lotts” who were more affluent were younger, so I didn’t have many of my distant relatives in school with me. Ha, most every family were affluent than ours, but I am not complaining; we made it fine on little.

TODAY THE WORD is ASPIRATION. With this post, Sipping Cups of Inspiration will pass a significant goal of 75,000 page views and with that accomplishment, I will move the goal post to the 100,000 page view line. Who would have thought it? This note brings me to a thought and I need to go back to my childhood.

TODAY THE WORDS are IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MOMS

DAILY FEATURED BIBLE VERSE:
Proverbs 31:25-30 ESV
Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: “Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.”
