TODAY THE WORDS are OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH THE NEW. I am sure I don’t have to tell anyone who celebrates Christmas that the season has come to a close and now everyone is turning their thoughts to the New Year. This morning, in preparation for the packing up of all of the Christmas decorations and lights, my mind wrapped around the thought of OUT WITH THE OLD; IN WITH THE NEW. I hope you find my take on this quote interesting and that it may be thought provoking. My posts are for that reason of tickling the thought process and are not intended for agreement only. I am also a firm believer in Two Sides To Every Story and welcome different points of view on any given topic.   “Ring out the old, ring in the new.”Alfred Tennyson (a.k.a. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, 1st Baron Tennyson; 1809-1892)         English poet          Famous line from Tennyson’s In Memoriam A.H.H. (1850)      “Yesterday, today was tomorrow And tomorrow, today will be yesterday So, ring out the old, ring in the new Ring out the old, ring in the new Ring out the false, ring in the true.”George Harrison (1943-2001)         English rock musician         From the lyrics of his 1974 song “Ding Dong, Ding Dong” (included on the Dark Horse album) Whether it be ring out the old, ring in the new, what I do like is the reflection of “Ring out the false, ring in the true.” At this time of the year or at this time in our lives, we should reflect on what is old in our spirits such as grudges, hate, resentment, greed, jealousy, arrogance, anger. Release those old feelings or attitudes and open hearts for new and fresh feelings of love, charity, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness along with acceptance. I want to give us a visual to work with since gift giving is usually abundant during the holiday season. When we open a present, especially something we wanted or needed so badly; we are jubilant and so excited. It is new and untouched with no marks or tears on it. It smells so nice and we like touching it.

With this feeling in mind, it brings me to my deeper thought……When we find peace in our souls; when we stop thinking of ourselves and we think of others first; when we seek to give love rather than make it necessary to receive love first; and when we find more goodness to show others than expect others to always show us goodness; we have been given the Gift of Life and Love from Our Heavenly Father. We smile more; we laugh more; we give more; we expect less; and we are happier than we have ever been.  We have truly practiced the “Ring out the Old, Ring in the New. Ring out the False, Ring in the True.”
